The teachers and staff REALLY cared about their students. It really was an 'ohana while I was there from '89-'96. The teachers and staff genuinely were concerned and committed to the positive development and educating their students. Academics and social enjoyment was always at a balance, making being there so much fun. I am now 23 years old and even until this very day many fellow maunawili menehunes and I always talk about all of the good times, our fond memories and friendships we truly miss.
Maunawili is a very unique place because of its beautiful setting, diverse student population, and highly qualified staff.
Anyone who has ever visited my classroom has commented on the view. It is incredible! There is nothing like walking up to E building and seeing the morning sun reflecting off the Koolaus. As long as I teach at Maunawili, I will never grow tired of the view.
I think that Maunawili is a special place because of the people in it. I also think it's special place because it overlooks the beautiful mountain of Olomana. The people in Maunawili, especially the staff, are really nice and considerate. ´Everyone in Maunawili is civil and cares about each other. No trouble or inapropriate acts ever occur in school. Maunawili Elementary School overlooks Olomana mountain. Olomana is beautiful, the way the sunlight illuminates the mountain every morning. Even in the haze and vog you can still see its astonishing beauty. . We are a special school because not all people get to wake up and see the beauty of nature every morning. Maunawili has its ups and downs but it's still a special place to me. I hope that others feel the same way I do.
I think that the people at Maunawili is what makes Maunawili Elementary special. The people at Maunawili is what makes Maunawili school special because the teachers care about us students, the students are friendly and the staff is helpful. The teachers care for us by helping us with our work, they teaches us new things everyday and they help us to do the right thing. The students are friendly to others by letting others play with them and the students would also help you with your work too. The staff at Maunawili is helpful by cleaning the campus, helping setup things and being friends with the people at Maunawili. Another person that I forgot is the parents. They do a lot of fun events for us, so they too make Maunawili a special place.
Maunawili Elementary School is very special place. What makes Maunawili Elementary so special is the wonderful teachers and staff. That is because the teachers are really polite, nice, kind, and understanding. Another reason why Maunawili is a special place is because of the help you get from teachers. Also because of the good classrooms and perfect learning facilities. Another reason why Maunawili is a special place is because of the new hi-tech equitment used for learning. Last but not least the wonderful students that go to Maunawili.(wink!!!wink!!!)
The facalt and staff, teachers, and students make Maunawili a special place
I think the thing that makes Maunawili special is the safe environment. At our school, we don't have graffiti, and beatings in the bathroom, or at our school. Maunawili Alumni like Harold Apao said that he liked Maunawili's safe aura. A lot of other people probably appreciate that as well. Another thing that makes this place special is the Extravagant view of Mt. Olomana. It is a special thing that many schools don't get. I feel we are very lucky to have these things.
The uniqueness of the students is what makes Maunawili a very special place. The students here are very talented and 'akamai. The students are loving, caring, and creative. I know that every child is unique and blah blah blah, but our students are da bomb! A lot of our students are independent and responsible. Maunawili kids rock out all the other kids from other schools. I was a student council president at Maunawili and I was and still am proud. I have met with other schools in Student Council activities, and our school was the most behaved students. I am so proud of our students! WOOHO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUNAWILI!!!!
What makes maunawili Elementary a special? It is a place because there are so many kind people there. The scool has a wonderful view of Mt. Olomana. All subjects are good for kids. The cafeteria makes good food. Everyone has fun playing at recess. All those things are what makes maunawili Elementary a special place.
I believe that Maunawili Elementary is a very, very special place. I've been here since kindergarden and I feel like Maunawili is like my second home. The teachers and staff are so nice, and I made so many different friends here. Were like one big happy family! Everyone here is so friendly and I will never forget anyone. The teachers and staff make you feel special and unique, and each one holds a very special place in my heart. They make you feel better and help you with any problem. They have fun activities and games planned on certain days to make school more enjoyable. It breaks my heart to leave this school. I have made so many wonderful friends and memories here. I hope that my new school will be as special as Maunawili
I think Maunawili is a very special place! It is not like other schools. The view is so B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.! It overlooks Mount. Olomana. Looking at that scenery everyday makes me smile. It has great teachers too! Some of teachers here seem to be the best in the world! Maunawili is a very special place and to me, the best school E.V.E.R.!!!!!!! Maunawili is going to be treasured in my heart for the rest of my life and doesn't have all that drama other schools have! I mean, some schools have drug and fighting problems, but no, Maunawili is perfect, to me. I hope people enjoy and don't take advantage of it, because it can be gone in a snap. All I really want to say is that Maunawili is a very special school and should be treasured in your heart F.O.R.E.V.E.R.!
I think the staff members are what makes Maunawili a special place. I think it's the staff members because the staff members do stuff for the school like make sure you get home safe. Also the staff cleans the bathrooms and classrooms. They make activities for us to do. They make lunch for us every school day. they are our parents at school but when we get home we still have parents. so therefore I think the staff members are what makes Maunawili a special place.
The facalt and staff, teachers, and students make Maunawili a special place. The faculty and staff make school kind of like a family. The teachers give a purpose for students to show up to school. The students allow other students to make friends. Each person plays a part in school. Each person gives purpose into each others day. Without one of them the school would be less special than it is now.
What makes Maunawili a special place is that there are people here that you will remember forever. For the person who is reading this I hope someday they will meet people that are like the people I've known. Therefore that is what makes Mauniwili Elementry School a special place.
There are a couple of reasons why Maunawili Elementry is a special place. one reason why is Because the teachers I had are really nice. Also the teachers are really funny. Even the other teachers were nice and funny. Another reason is that the lunches were good. Some of the lunches were Nachos (but they dont serve it any more), Cheese Pizza, Chili, and Chicken patty. The Break fastes were good too.
I think what is unique about Maunawili elementary is that it is a very smart school. THe teachers are extremely nice to all of the students.(Especially the old timers.) They talk joke around with the students. Most teachers at other schools are mostly all stuck-up and cocky. When you aren't able to pay or provide for field trips or special events, they will for you. This school gives 100% of education to all of the students here. Sometimes we choose to play or fuss around instead. They give us so much time to complete our work to get it in. That's what so unique about Maunawili.
Maunawili Elementary is such a special place. It has an awesome view of the mountains. Every time I go out to play in the field, I look at the beautiful mountains. I will now tell myself that I'm going to miss that wonderful view. Maunawili Elementary has amazing teachers. During all my years here at Maunawili, I have had amazing teachers. In fourth grade, I had Ms. DeCosta and Ms. Leslie. For fifth grade, Mrs. Kiyabu and Ms. Yoshioka. But Ms. Yoshioka recently got married. So she now goes by Mrs. Shimauchi. Now, in the wonderful year of sixth grade I have Ms. Ching and Mrs. Shinagawa. No, Ms. Ching did not get married yet. (Sorry Ms. Ching). Maunawili Elementary has nice big classrooms. It also has great education. Last, but not least Maunawili has very fun activities. I had a blast playing the activities that the student council had put together. Even though I was apart of the student council, I had lots of fun playing and running the activities. I am going to really miss Maunawili Elementary, all its staff, and all my friends.
Maunawili Elementry School is special in its very own ways. The children are very unique and friendly(sometimes). Each student is unique in looks and personality. We also have the bomb teachers. I came to this school in fifth grade and in fifth grade I had Mrs. KIyabu and Ms. Yoshioka(Mrs. Shimauchi). Mrs. Kiyabu got mad alot but she was still cool and Ms. Yoshioka was super nice. This year I have Ms. Ching and Mrs. Shinagawa. Now this is like the bombest teachers ever. Ms. CHing is so hilarious but beware she gets mad if you dont do your homework. Mrs. Shinagawa is superdy duperdy nice and she doesnt get that mad. Yahhh fifth grade was fun but sixth grade is awesome.

The view is breath taking. The teachers and staff work hard to keep the Maunawili Ohana year after year.
The environment, staff, highly qualified teachers and driven students make our school a wonderful place to learn.
Maunawili is a great place to be because of the students, great staff, and amazing setting. The view of the Ko'olaus is outstanding and the cows next door always seem to get a rise out of the students!:)
The view from my classroom of Mount Olomana can't be beat!! And how many teachers get to listen to the mooing of cows? Serene setting makes for better teachers and students. Thank you Maunawili!
Maunawili Elementary is a special place because of the students who care for each other and have fun learning together.
I think the friendships that we make at Maunawili Elementary is what makes the school a special place. I think this is true because on our last day ( graduation day ) everyone had a good time shaking hands and giving hugs to friends. I thank my friends for giving me special memories that I will share for a lifetime, ESPECIALLY ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS, KYLE.
Maunawili Elementary School is a very special place for many reasons! First, the beautiful campus of Maunawili makes this such a wonderful place to call home! In addition to the unique location of Maunawili, we most definitely have the best faculty and staff who are dedicated to make this school the best learning environment for our students!! I am so honored to be able to say that I am a member of the Maunawili Elementary School Ohana!!!
The people of Maunawili Elementary make it a special place to be. Without them, it is just a building with an incredible view! I am so lucky to have been a part of this wonderful 'ohana for the past year. The teachers and students here teach and learn through building lasting relationships with each other. It is a wonderful environment filled with caring people. Thanks for everything Maunawili!
There seems to be an exuberance of life that pulsates through this amazing place. From the ever changing beauty of the Koolaus to the infectious energy and spirit of the students and back through the conscientious, directive nurturing provided by the teachers and staff here at the place we call Maunawili Elementary School!
The students, the parents, and the staff working together to create this special place called Maunawili Elementary.
Maunawili is special because of the faculty and staff. They're positive, helpful and really do care about the students. It also doesn't hurt being situated at the base of beautiful Mount Olomana. It makes for a peaceful, cool campus.
Maunawili school is a special place where memories are created and shared. The spirit of ohana is demonstrated by faculty, staff, families, and other members of the community. The support and dedication of the teachers also contribute to making this school exceptional.
Teachers and staff truly care about helping students achieve their potential.
This was my first year at Maunawili and it felt like I was "coming home". Everyone made me feel so welcome with their kindheartedness and genuine caring and the overall special feeling of ohana throughout the Maunawilil campus. From the administration to the faculty and staff, to the students and parents you immediately get the feeling of warmth and friendship. Maunawili is a nurturing school which is so evident in all the activities throughout the year. It is wonderful to see the smiles on all the faces of the students and to hear the simple joy of their laughter while they play below the majestic view of Mt. Olomana. That too, is my daily view which makes me take a deep breath and be thankful for such beauty. Yes, so lucky to live Hawaii, and especially thankful to be a part of the Maunawili Ohana. Thank you for such a wonderful year!
Peace by the mountainside - that was what my 4th grade teacher Mr. Smith told our class what Maunawili meant. From that time forward I always looked at the school as a peaceful place to learn. That has stuck with me all these years.
